Chinese manufacturers of the new Chinese high-def optical disk format, CBHD, are having no luck hawking it around Holywood.

The ungrateful movie makers don't want to support a second high definition optical disk format after having settled on Blu-ray and given Toshiba's HD DVD format the kiss of death.

Interestingly CBHD is 90% based on Toshiba's HD DVD format.

CBHD (China Blue High-definition Disk) is a cheaper format to produce from converted DVD plants than Blu-ray and license fees are less than Sony's Blu-ray. Even so the movie moguls don't want to play. They don't want to grant licenses to the CBHD makers for fear of letting in Chinese pirate operations and enduring royalty avoidance by the licensees.

Poor old Toshiba. Back to making current DVDs look better. More here.
