posted on 21 August 2008 11:16
Derby, UK - 19th August , 2008 – Nexsan, a leading provider of energy efficient, long-term disk storage, today announced that it has tested and demonstrated interoperability with Apple’s Mac OS X Leopard Operating System and the Nexsan SATABeast™ Xi.
Announced at Macworld 2008, SATABeast Xi was the first high density, green storage solution built and optimized for data storage in the Apple Xserve and Mac Pro markets.
“Nexsan is committed to ensuring that Apple’s products integrate smoothly with the SATABeast Xi,” said Bob Woolery, senior vice president of marketing for Nexsan. “By conducting comprehensive interoperability testing, we are able to offer our customers the comfort of knowing that their SATABeast Xi will work smoothly, elegantly, and most importantly, reliably within a mixed OS environment.”
The SATABeast Xi is the highest density storage solution available in the Mac market today providing up to 42TB of storage in only 4U of rack space, and the only one of its calibre in the Xserve market featuring MAID (Massive Array of Idle Disks) technology. Nexsan’s AutoMAID™ allows SATABeast Xi to place its disk drives in a progressively more idle state based on user and application need to conserve energy yet provide near-instantaneous access to data. AutoMAID’s progressive settings make it ideal for multi-user systems with multiple applications like rich media, imaging, email and many other business applications.
Nexsan’s product lines have consistently proven themselves to be the most reliable in the market. Nexsan has long deployed a stringent pre-release quality control process to ensure customers get the highest quality, highly reliable data storage solutions. Moreover, Nexsan storage systems have a superior, unique vibration and cooling design exhaustively tested and field proven in over 17,000 systems and three generations.
“No other storage solution exists out there that combines the level of storage density and energy efficiency of the SATABeast Xi,” said Jeanne Wilson, president and storage architect at Condor Storage. “We have sold this solution to many customers who liked the entire package of reliability and performance coupled with energy efficiency at a great price point.”
Nexsan also recently became a premier member of the Apple Developer Connection (ADC) which allows Nexsan to receive advance copies of Apple software and operating systems and to test Nexsan’s products in the Apple Compatibility Labs.
