Release: LSI ANNOUNCES high-performance library providing “all-the-time” NETWORK encryption
posted on 18 August 2008 07:28
LLondon, UK., 12 August, 2008 – LSI Corporation (NYSE: LSI), a leader in custom silicon solutions for security applications, today announced additions to its high-performance security library that make it practical and cost effective to encrypt everything on the IP network, all the time.
“Networking has become a perfect storm," said Charles Kolodgy, research director, Security Products at IDC. "The amount of data traversing the IP network is growing at a staggering rate; it must be processed at ever-increasing speeds to keep up with demand while the business requirement for securing this data – all of it, all the time – remains a constant concern. LSI has developed a near zero-overhead silicon solution, which is cost effective enough that it is practical to encrypt everything passing over the network."
The LSI enhanced security library provides for encryption, authentication and public key acceleration based in silicon that can secure data at rates exceeding 10 gigabits per second (Gb/s). The solution scales to 40 Gb/s and is optimised for minimum real estate and power consumption. Implemented on LSI-supplied multi-protocol engines (MPEs), the libraries enable both data-at-rest (DAR) and data-in-flight (DIF) security that conforms to Federal Information Processing Standards.
OEMs now have the ability to upgrade their security solutions with state-of-the-art technology that is easier to integrate, faster to market and more cost effective than limited-function, off-the-shelf security solutions.
“LSI custom silicon solutions integrate network and storage security with minimal engineering time and maximum cost effectiveness,” said Jim Anderson, vice president of marketing, Network and Storage Products Group, LSI. “Our expertise in algorithm development, logical synthesis and silicon optimisation make us a unique, one-stop shop for end-to-end security solutions.”
The LSI security library supports all major DIF wireless and data security protocols including MACSec, IPSec, FC-SP, 3GPP, WPA, WPA2, SRTP and the DAR IEEE P1619 storage standard. The host interface is customisable, and the MPE can be configured to accommodate any combination of security protocols required for protecting data services, video, wireless and voice traffic.
The LSI security library is available for evaluation now and is expected to be available for design-in beginning in the third quarter of this year.
