Peter Smails has left Hitachi Data Systems and joined Storwize as its VP for worldwide marketing.
He was the Senior Director for Global Marketing at HDS and responsible for product marketing strategy of Hitachi’s $2.5B hardware, software, services, and solutions portfolio. AS such he managed a team looking after market sizing, product/solution strategy, messaging, pricing, go-to-market, competitive and market research, and alliances marketing. At Storewize he will report to CEO Gal Naor.
Smails said this about his appointment: “I am looking forward to joining a company with an incredible vision and superior technology that has made significant progress in revolutionizing how people deal with an ever-growing volume of business-critical data. Storwize offers me a tremendous opportunity to expand and implement the strategic vision of the company’s management team as we firmly position primary data capacity optimization solutions as a ‘must have’ business tool.”
Orli Amir continues as VP Marketing, focussing on channels and users, with Peter Smails having a more corporate focus.
Storwize offers real-time data compression technology for primary storage. Mazda was a recent customer win.
