New Documentum Integration Boosts Information Management and eDiscovery Preparedness Processes

Austin, Texas. August 4, 2008 — StoredIQ, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise-class intelligent information management technology, today announced enhanced support for the EMC® Documentum platform as a recognized repository for document management.

StoredIQ’s appliance now offers the ability to locate and insert unstructured information as records into the most current version of EMC Documentum and place those records under litigation hold leveraging Documentum’s Retention Policy Services. With this enhancement, StoredIQ provides the industry's most comprehensive solution for eDiscovery, information governance and risk management across the broadest set of disparate systems.

The StoredIQ Intelligent Information Management appliance is uniquely designed to manage the functional intersection of records management, eDiscovery and storage management. As part of an overall information lifecycle management strategy, StoredIQ provides a holistic classification, business policy and action framework to execute litigation hold, storage optimization and document retention and destruction policies. StoredIQ, an EMC Select partner, provides support for EMC’s Centera and Celerra storage platforms in addition to Documentum.

“Information is a vital corporate asset, but when mismanaged, it can quickly become a liability and create risk,” said Brian Babineau, Senior Analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group. “This can happen because organizations must deal with the exponential growth of email and user files, while at the same time adhering to records retention regulations and the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure – which stipulate mandates for handling electronically stored information in the legal discovery process. StoredIQ’s intelligent information management technology provides valuable automation for organizations to manage email and user files based upon content and business context.”

With StoredIQ, companies can index, search, tag, move or copy content to and from Documentum servers. From a records management perspective, StoredIQ can discover electronically stored information (ESI) located on file shares, Microsoft SharePoint, and desktops/laptops, classify and deduplicate unmanaged ESI, and automatically insert those items as new records into Documentum. StoredIQ can automatically and seamlessly place those records under litigation hold using Documentum’s advanced hold functionality. When collecting and inserting ESI with Documentum, StoredIQ can preserve a variety of Documentum attributes including object name, object ID, version, title, author, keywords, dates, size and more.

“To efficiently automate content-based business processes while complying with regulatory requirements and eDiscovery, our customers need solutions that they can rapidly deploy and use across their entire organization,” said Jake Frazier, Director of EMC’s Compliance and eDiscovery Practice. “StoredIQ is meeting that need; they have taken a leadership position in the industry in the area of proactive risk management, including the collection and remediation of content from unmanaged environments, as well as classification for the proper management and disposition of business information.”

Corporate legal and compliance departments implement policies as part of sound corporate governance, ensuring documents are managed based on their records retention policies, existing or anticipated litigation holds or regulatory compliance requirements. The corporate IT department ensures that business information is accessible and properly protected and maintained. StoredIQ allows companies to implement a comprehensive information management strategy that bridges the needs of these corporate groups. StoredIQ’s software-based appliance solves the unstructured and unmanaged information problem and automates litigation hold, storage optimization and document retention and destruction policies.
