Oxfordshire, UK (4th August 2008) - DVS Soft Distribution announced today the launch of its online backup module for Microsoft Exchange.

Available now as a free option with DVS Backup for Windows Small Business Server, the module allows organisations to backup their Exchange database and send it over the internet using strong encryption to DVS's secure data centre servers, without interrupting the use of the Exchange system.

"In the vast majority of organisations, the Microsoft Exchange server holds a great deal of business critical information including emails, calendars and contacts, so it's important that the databases are regularly backed up and taken off-site," comments Phil Watts, Managing Director of DVS Soft Distribution. "Unfortunately many businesses don't have set procedures for the immediate removal of backups from their sites leaving them vulnerable to the risk of flood, fire and even theft."

DVS Soft solves this issue by immediately transferring the backup via the internet to its secure data centre servers. In addition, DVS Soft helps to protect organisations against the detrimental effects that a virus attack or malicious and accidental deletion may have on their Exchange database. Customers have the choice of storing 30, 60 or 90 days of incremental backups, allowing companies to go back to a nominated point of time that may be prior to an attack. Furthermore, DVS Soft's new automatic file integrity management system constantly checks for file integrity. If a file is found to be corrupt, DVS Backup automatically replaces the file with a clean version.

Easy to use wizards within DVS Backup make scheduling backup jobs simple and email and desktop notification confirms the status to the network administrator on completion of the backup task. When required, the Exchange mailstore and public folders can be restored from a given point in time. All DVS Backup products use military style encryption when transferring data online to protect the information. Furthermore, the data remains encrypted whilst stored in DVS Secure Data Centres.

For larger Exchange databases over 20Gb DVS offers a special Crypto Drive secure service. This enables the first backup to be placed on DVS's servers manually via a portable drive, saving the organisation the cost of bandwidth and resources spent on the initial backup. Subsequent incremental backups are then processed online in the normal way.
