Tosh's new external drives
posted on 31 July 2008 13:29
Toshiba is launching jazzy new 2.5-inch external drives, branded iSense in Taiwan.
Capacities range from 160Gb through 250GB to 320GB. They connect via a USB 2.0 port and are black/grey coloured with a choice of three colours for curved highlight stripes on the case: Carbon Grey; Gecko Green; or ... calm yourself ... Hot Rod Red.
NTI Shadow backup software is included which captures updates to files and saves them automatically in the background.
Mr Toshiba says these drives are 'the ultimate combination of storage and style'.
There's a 3-year warranty and Windows and Mac hosts are supported. They're available now and can be bought in the usual retail outlets such as Circuit City - $99.00 for the 160 and 250 gig models but $129 for the 320 gig one.
A Taiwan source suggests a 400GB model is in the offing. Since Imation has announced a 500GB external drive it better be.
