CLARiiON call for CX4 refresh

What could be coming down the pike

A buzz is building in the analyst community about an expected upcoming refresh for the CLARiiON CX4.

EMC's recent results information mentioned some customer hesitation about buying CLARiiONs due to refresh concerns. What these EMC watchers are thinking about is that, some time in the next few weeks and with an announcement by the end of August, we will see:-

- CLARiiON CX4 with 8Gbit/s Fibre Channel connectivity,
- Solid State Drive support in high-end model,
- Support for energy-saving drive spin down,
- Support for thin provisioning,
- Sold by both EMC and Dell,

Support for 2.5-inch drive trays might also be on the list.

As EMC never comments on rumours or speculation about unannounced products we will have to wait and see.
