Avamar experiencing rocket-like growth
posted on 25 July 2008 13:36
Apparently EMC's multi-header deduplication product, Avamar, is experiencing stratospheric growth, one hundred percent plus, according to EMC CFO David Goulden.
The information was revealed in EMC's earnings transcript call.
The product, quite different from virtually any other deduplication product, has, broadly speaking, deduplicating head systems sending deduped data back to a central consolidated store. This makes it idea for branch and remote offices and departments with a networked connection back to a central data center.
Its sales growth, combined with Data Domain's excellent results, suggest that deduplication sales are on a roll.
