Three new SSDs

Ritek has introduced three new Ridata solid state drives using 2-bit multi-level cell (MLC) flash technology with an up to 1 million write cycle endurance rating.

The Ridata Ultra-S Plus series drives will be available in 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB capacities. They have a 4 million hour mean time between failure rating and feature static wear-leveling and error correction and checking using Reed-Solomon techniques.

Harvey Liu, Advanced Media President, said: "We are pleased to offer laptop and other mobile computing device users an affordable SSD alternative to Hard Disk Drives (HDD). SSD drives offer a host of benefits over traditional hard disk drives especially for notebooks. Cool and silent running, low battery usage, fast data access, dependable performance and resistance to temperature, shock, vibration and humidity make SSD ideal for the mobile computing environment.”

Ridata claims an up to 1 million hour write cycle endurance depending upon the drive's capacity.

The new SSDs are supplied in the USA by Advanced Media, Inc., a subsidiary of Ritek Corp. They will be available this month and the 128GB model will retail for $537.
