New Permabit VPs, board director
posted on 16 July 2008 09:48
Archive data supplier Permabit has appointed two new VPs and a new board director.
Ed Reilly becomes VP of worldwide sales and Katherine Edwards is promoted to VP of human resources.
Before joining Permabit, Reilly served as general manager for Altiris' EMEA operations. He was also VP of EMEA sales of the Altiris business unit of Symantec after Symantec bought Altiris. Prior to joining Altiris, Reilly was VP of sales for Peregrine Systems, where he was responsible for eastern area sales for the United States.
Edwards has worked at Permabit for over three years and prior to joining Permabit, worked as a member of the human resources team in the Boston office of PricewaterhouseCoopers.
The new board director is Joe Julian. He is currently on the Executive Advisory Board of Virtual Iron Corporation and held a board position with Avamar Technologies, now part of EMC. Julian most recently served as SVP of Americas sales and global accounts for Veritas Software, acquired by Symantec in July 2005.
Tom Cook, CEO of Permabit, said: “Joe is an outstanding addition to our team. He is uniquely qualified to assist us in optimizing our sales organization to capture new business wins in the largest enterprise accounts, which is our target market and one of the most challenging to penetrate.”
He added: “We’re in high growth mode at Permabit due to the tremendous market opportunity and growing demand for our enterprise archiving solution. We’ve charged Ed with building a strong enterprise sales force and delivering seamless management of our largest accounts. Meanwhile, we will look to Katherine to drive our business forward through a focus on growth, retention, leadership development, and assimilation of new team members.”
Joe Julian offered this thought: “Companies are faced with increasing costs for people, power, and storage resources while their IT budgets are shrinking. Permabit’s 21st century technology solves a 20 year old IT problem of how to cost effectively manage static data through archiving. The choices for hardware and software are often limited and usually expensive. The economics that Permabit provides with its technological solution make it truly a smart money purchase for IT buyers today.”
He joins Permabit’s existing board of directors: Tom Cook, Permabit CEO and president; Clint McVey, Permabit SVP of development; and Bill Reeves, co-founder of Blue Crest Capital Management Limited (acquired by UK-based Man Group).
