Continuity's DR check software adds VMware support
posted on 16 June 2008 09:34
Continuity Software's disaster recovery checking RecoverGuard software has added VMware and HDS support in a major release upgrade to version 3.0
The software looks at disaster recovery (DR) source and target site hardware and software configurations and DR processes looking for mis-matches or gaps. It uses a gap signature database with more than 2,000 entries in the checking process. It reports on gaps, for example, a disk volume assigned to different servers at the source and DR site, with a severity rating and fix suggestion.
Marc Staimer, the founder and president of Dragon Slayer Consulting, said: “Most Fortune 500 IT organizations have told me they have deployed or are in the process of deploying server virtualization, such as EMC’s VMware, for server consolidation and simplified disaster recovery. They also share with me their concerns that server virtualization magnifies by an order of magnitude the serious consequences of DR errors or inconsistencies. Continuity Software’s RecoverGuard v3.0 eliminates these concerns for VMware by providing complete DR visibility where absolutely none existed before.”
Avi Stone, Continuity Software's marketing director, “RecoverGuard v3.0 guarantees business continuity and virtually zero RPO and RTO for VMware environments.”
Version 3 includes:-
- Oracle DataGuard support,
- Support for Hitachi Data Systems products,
- BMC Remedy support,
- HP OpenView support,
- VMware support.
Continuity is aiming to add support for HP EVA arrays and some IBM software. With that most mainstream storage products and most databases will be supported.
Customers can have a Continuity Software assessment service run on their DR set up for around $25,000.
The company is going through a second funding round to build on the $6.5 million first round.
RecoverGuard v3.0 will be generally available on June 30, 2008.
