Bristol, UK – 10th June 2008 – StorMagic, a fast-growing developer of iSCSI SAN management software, today announced the StorMagic SMTB™ Storage Area Network (SAN) solution for configuring and managing multiple servers.

This integrated solution designed for small and medium businesses (SMBs) includes the StorMagic SM™ Series software and a 2U 12-drive bay Supermicro industry-standard storage server. Offered as ready-to-install solutions, these systems are available in 3, 7, and 11 Terabyte (TB) RAID 5 capacities; the StorMagic SM Series software provides easy set-up, data migration and monitoring capabilities of Windows-based servers. The SMTB family also offers RAID 6 features when populated with five or more disk drives.

“Server and/or storage managers now have access to a powerful and intuitive management platform that allows Microsoft Server volume creation, automatic migration, and automatic volume expansion to be done from the same interface window,” said Mike Stolz, VP of marketing at StorMagic. “With this new product, we are providing a complete solution that enables small and medium organisations to consolidate all of their storage needs through a single, easy-to-use solution. We are replacing a typical 22-step set-up of three applications with a six-click, intuitive appliance set-up. The StorMagic SM series software running on these platforms provides fast and efficient implementation and management of the SAN, allowing system administrators to deploy and use their SAN in hours rather than days.”

The new StorMagic SMTB series includes three product choices, all of them based on a common platform, a 2U 12-bay enclosure with dual hot-swap power supplies, dual core Xeon processor and two 1 Gb Ethernet ports. SMTB4F features four 1 TB hot-swap disk drives and two Microsoft Server access licenses. It is upgradeable to four, six, or unlimited Microsoft Server access licenses, as well as capacity to up to 12 TB. SMTB8F features eight 1 TB hot-swap disk drives and comes with four Microsoft Server access licenses, which can be upgraded to six or unlimited access, and up to 12 TB capacity by adding four 1 TB disk drives. SMTB12F provides 11 TB of RAID 5 storage via twelve 1 TB hot-swap disk drives, and is licensed for unlimited Microsoft Server access.
