Land of the rising Blu-ray sun
posted on 28 May 2008 13:26
Reuters reports Blu-ray recorder sakes are rising in Japan.
The sales rise follows on from the end of the high-definition optical disk format wars after Toshiba withdrew its HD-DVD contender from the market a couple of months ago.
In April Blu-ray recorder sales rose past DVD recorder sales in Japan according to the BCN Ltd. research firm. The firm's data had Blu-ray recorder sales almost three times the amount that both Blu-ray and HD-DVD recorders sold in January.
It is likely that Blu-ray device sales will rise strongly as high-definition TV and cam-corder sales rise and with the added impetus of the Beijing Olympic Games.
