TSST, a Toshiba and Samsung joint venture, is expected to start making Blu-ray drives soon.
TSST (Toshiba-Samsung Storage Technology) is a joint venture intended to produce high-definition optical disk drives. Samsung was associated with the Blu-ray camp and Toshiba with HD-DVD. It has not yet started volume production of drives. Now that Blu-ray has emerged as the hig-definition optical drive format du jour the expectation is that TSST will start manufacturing and shipping them.
Blu-ray disk multi-media software may be included with such drives according to Jau Huang, the chairman of CyberLink, a producer of such software.
