Which storage players work with VMware's SRM?

posted on 12 May 2008 11:03

3PAR first off the blocks

Precisely at midday (BST in the UK) 3PAR announced its InServ products interoperated with VMware's System Recovery Manager. The precise 3PAR product is 3PAR Replication Adapter for VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM).

The interoperation enables 3PAR's Remote Copy, its replication software, to work with VMware SRM to provide end-to-end disaster recovery for virtual servers.

Which storage supplier will be next?

12.30: VMware issues a release saying 3PAR, Dell, EMC, FalconStor, Hitachi Data Systems, HP, IBM, LeftHand Networks and NetApp are supportive of SRM. It says we can read what partners are saying about VMware Site Recovery Manager on a web page:
www.vmware.com/company/news/releases/srm_partner_support.html.

Unfortunately it's not available yet, the new release having come out a little too fast.

1.0pm (UK BST times here) - LeftHand Networks announced 'its certified support for VMware Site Recovery Manager. With VMware Site Recovery Manager combined with LeftHand’s certified Storage Replication Adapter, customers can deploy a complete solution that automates disaster recovery for systems and storage data across virtualized environments.'

That's eight revealed and two announced.

1.30pm - EMC has announced that new storage replication adapters for EMC's replication software, including EMC SRDF (Symmetrix Remote Data Facility), EMC Celerra Replicator, EMC MirrorView and EMC RecoverPoint, will be integrated with Site Recovery Manager to ensure rapid, reliable, manageable and affordable data recovery in VMware environments.

3.0pm - FalconStor and NetApp have made their announcements.
