UK'S CMS PERIPHERALS CELEBRATES 20 YEARS AS THE LEADING INDEPENDENT VALUE-ADDED STORAGE DISTRIBUTOR

London, 7th May, 2008 - CMS Peripherals today officially celebrates 20 years in business. Founded in 1988, CMS Peripherals is the largest independent value-added distributor (VAD) of information storage products and solutions in the UK and Ireland.
After setting up the business for its original owners, Frank Salmon purchased CMS Peripherals in 1990 for £3, becoming managing director at just 24 years old. Since taking ownership, Salmon has grown the business more than 35% per annum and will have Sales this year of £125 million with 150 people.
Throughout its history, CMS Peripherals has remained at the forefront of the storage industry by keeping service levels high and bringing new and innovative vendors to market. Today, the company's vendor list reads like a Who's Who of the storage and IT industry and includes CA, Pillar Data Systems, Drobo, Quantum, Seagate, Symantec and WD. It has also won a raft of industry awards, which is further testament to the emphasis the company places on exceptional customer service and dedication to the IT channel.
The company is structured in a way that allows its resellers to choose the engagement model that is most appropriate to their business needs. From a low touch model through its e-commerce store <http://www.cms-store.com>www.cms-store.com, to a high touch model for complex data storage solutions through their Storage Specialists and Professional Services team, CMS offers its customers choice in a cost effective way.
Reflecting on the past 20 years, Frank Salmon said: "Change is about the only constant over the past two decades, especially in the technology and the competitive landscape. Whilst our strategy has always been rigid enough to encompass our vision it has also needed to be flexible enough to accommodate this change. Our guiding philosophy on the other hand is something that is much more resistant to change and has stood the test of time and that is simply to exceed the expectations of our resellers, employees and vendors."
" We've also made it our business to identify the best emerging vendors with the highest potential and then take them to market in the most efficient manner. Keeping one step ahead of the latest storage trends has, and always will be, a key part to our long-term success."
It is this guiding philosophy that has made CMS Peripherals the mainstay of the go-to-market strategy in the UK and Ireland for many storage vendors over the past two decades. The Company boasts an impressive list of storage resellers who have collaborated with CMS on deals from a few thousand pounds to multi million-pound installations.
To mark its 20th anniversary, the company is holding a series of celebrations for current and former employees, resellers and vendor partners whose support and loyalty over the past two decades has helped CMS Peripherals achieve and maintain its market-leading status.
