MacBook Air to use STEC flash

posted on 28 April 2008 18:24

Samsung says it must be a mis-STEC

It is reported that Apple is going to use STEC flash solid state drives (SSD) in its MacBook air thinner than thin notebook computer.

This could earn STEC $25 - 30 million in 2009. The existing Samsung SSDs will not be used.

STEC SSDs are being used to provide the new performance tier 0 in EMC's Symmetrix DMX4 storage arrays. STEC is also being sued by Seagate for SSD patent infringement.
