ADDLESHAW GODDARD LOOKS TO RECOMMIND FOR ENTERPRISE SEARCH SOLUTION
posted on 23 April 2008 09:52
Recommind, a leading provider of enterprise search, automatic categorisation and eDisclosure systems for enterprises and law firms, has announced that Top 15 UK law firm Addleshaw Goddard has chosen its MindServer Enterprise Search platform to facilitate search and information access for 1,500 employees across its offices in London, Leeds and Manchester.
The system will provide quick and accurate access to a host of internal and external information sources, enabling lawyers and support staff to easily pinpoint the exact information they need thus boosting productivity.
Addleshaw Goddard wanted a search platform that could easily integrate with its Interwoven Worksite document management system (DMS) to accurately retrieve information from the DMS and also to search other internal and external knowledge repositories, providing its lawyers with the most appropriate and comprehensive information available. Following proof of concept testing, which compared Recommind’s platform with that of a competitive solution, Addleshaw Goddard chose to deploy Recommind’s technology due to its fit with the firm's needs and the confidence that users found with the results it produced.
The Recommind platform will provide employees with instant search results drawn from internal sources including not only the firm’s DMS, but also its precedent library, all matter files stored on CDs, intranet and external website, as well as subscription resources such as Practical Law Company's stock of legal know-how. By integrating with the firm’s existing systems, and by organising and filtering results based upon author, practice area, document type, date range, source, or any other criteria, the Recommind platform will provide Addleshaw Goddard with a search solution that is accurate, dynamic and simple for all staff to use.
“As we worked with Recommind during the proof of concept, we found their team to be well-attuned to our needs, and the technology produced clearly relevant results in a way that impressed our users. I am looking forward to showing the rest of the firm what we can do with search and to improving the productivity of our staff by minimising the time spent searching for information” said Mark Gould, head of knowledge management at Addleshaw Goddard.
Dan Simms, head of IT technical solutions, commented that, “Due to the nature of our work, we have to be sure that any technology we incorporate is not only beneficial to our working processes, but also produces consistent and accurate results. Identifying and collating the right information is a vital aspect of our lawyers' day-to-day work: the success of a transaction or case can hinge on the quality of data that is readily available to our lawyers.”
“The legal industry is a great example of the need for flexible and comprehensive enterprise search technologies,” said Simon Price, UK director of Recommind. “For Addleshaw Goddard, it was essential that its new search solution was able to integrate effectively with the existing Interwoven DMS as well other key information repositories, and the flexibility of our platform makes this possible without having to overhaul the existing infrastructure. With the amount of electronic data growing and the increase in regulatory measures, this unification of various data sources via intelligent enterprise search technology is fast becoming a must for the legal sector – we look forward to helping Addleshaw Goddard in its continued search for accuracy and success.”
