HP EVA 4400 is 8Gb/s Fibre Channel-ready

BRADFORD, UK, 10th April 2008 -- FalconStor Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: FALC), the provider of TOTALLY Open™ network storage solutions, announced today it has successfully tested the FalconStor® Network Storage Server (NSS) and FalconStor® Continuous Data Protector™ (CDP) solutions with the HP StorageWorks 4400 Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA), with 8Gb/s Fibre Channel switches and Host Bus Adapters (HBAs).

Like FalconStor NSS and FalconStor CDP, the HP EVA 4400 is 8Gb/s Fibre Channel-ready. The certification means that customers planning to use either FalconStor NSS or FalconStor CDP, based on the IPStor® platform, can take advantage of their combination with the HP StorageWorks 4400 EVA to acquire both a true high availability solution and full CDP functionality with the industry's fastest performing SAN infrastructure.

The HP StorageWorks 4400 Enterprise Virtual Array offers an easily deployed enterprise-class virtual storage array at an affordable price for the midsized customer. EVA virtualisation is designed to improve capacity and to reduce management complexities, thereby lowering the total cost of ownership compared to traditional arrays. For customers who are looking for a high performance, scalable, reliable and highly available storage solution that can be installed in just an hour, the EVA4400 fits well.

The FalconStor NSS is a software solution that provisions virtual disks to hosts via Fibre Channel, iSCSI or InfiniBand, providing enterprise-class performance, compatibility, reliability, and heterogeneous storage management. Data snapshots taken by the built-in FalconStor TimeMark® option can be used for data protection and recovery. FalconStor NSS uses thin provisioning and Capacity on DemandTM (COD) to avoid storage under use.

Guido Klenner, senior business manager, Online Storage, HP StorageWorks Division Germany, said, "An aspect of FalconStor CDP and FalconStor NSS that we're particularly impressed with is that the way that it enables us to address customer requirements for a transparent mirror in VMware environments. This is a key feature, made straightforward."
