Linux Mini-Note uses flash

HP will announce its Mini-Note PC, a small form-factor PC with a 64GB flash drive option, tomorrow.

It has an 8.9-inch screen, making it larger than Asustek's talked-about Eeee PC which first established the mini notebook sector. Other features include 1280x768 screen resolution, WiFi, a VIA C7-M ULV processor, and USB ports, a full QWERTY keyboard that is proof against liquid spillage, and a hard drive as standard, all wrapped up inside an aluminium case.

The Mini-Note weighs 2.lbs and comes with a Windows XP or Vista and up to 160GB spinning disk capacity, or Linux and a 64GB solid state disk (SSD).

The Mini-Note will start at $499 for the SSD Linux model. A top end Windows Vista hard drive version will be around $1200.

It's interesting that the SSD is not used as a premium model selling point.
