Flashing with Intel flash

Walking slowly with Windows

Intel fellow Knut Grimsrud has blooged about the coming solid state disk (SSD) products his team is developing. This will be Intel’s forthcoming high-performance SSD, the one that will blow the competitions' performance socks off.

He's blogged about trying a pre-production SSD in his Intel laptop computer. It produced an instant performance boost described as a 'dramatic difference.' He was able to have Outlook startup quickly whereas before he'd go IE surfing waiting for Outlook to load. The backup client software could now run without slowing down and interrupting presentation software.

He wrote that when he had to return the SSD and his laptop went back to crawling he felt really frustrated. Hey, that's Vista, that's the Microsoft experience. Not even Intel can get its own laptops to run Windows and its applications quickly.
