Improved Performance and Significant Feature Enhancements

Wasabi Systems today announced the release of its next generation network storage operating system, Wasabi Storage Builder® for iSCSI SAN v4.1. 

With improved performance across a variety of hardware platforms and a number of feature enhancements, the latest version of this tightly integrated, high-performance storage solution makes it easier than ever for system builders, solutionp roviders and OEMs to build and market iSCSI SAN storage appliances.

The upgraded features and benefits of Wasabi Storage Builder v4.1 include:

- Full support for RAID 6, 60 for most current LSI, Intel, SuperMicro and 3ware SAS / SATA RAID controllers, including improved logging and error recovery capability and full support for LSI 1078.

- Enhanced support for SES: Improved efficiency of system monitoring and control.  Users can easily view system temperatures, status of various system components, alarm status and settings, as well as mute alarms after they have been confirmed.

- Volume Management: Additional SAS expander support and full support for SAS HBA, including drive removal and replacement.  Extended reliability options for nested RAID levels in addition to those offered by the RAID controller, including RAID 61, 51.

- Significant UI enhancements, making the target easier to configure and manage.  This includes improved support for multiple SAS RAID controllers in a single target; an enhanced security mechanism for password protection; and improved context sensitive online help.

Wasabi Storage Builder v4.1 provides full support for virtualized server environments using both VMware and Virtual Iron products, and the ability to use the Wasabi Storage Builder target to boot diskless servers, workstations or clients using WinBoot™ or NetBoot products from emBoot Inc.

Targeted applications of Wasabi Storage Builder include streaming video and audio applications such as network video recording for surveillance applications; Microsoft business solutions such as Exchange and SharePoint, database systems including Oracle 10G, MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server, and disk-based backup and archive applications.

Wasabi Storage Builder for iSCSI SAN v4.1 starts at a suggested retail price of $1,695 and is available through Info X and qualified VARs and Intel Premier Providers.
