128GB SATA flash drive
posted on 18 March 2008 08:45
InnoDisk Corporation has introduced the highest-capacity single level cell (SLC) 2.5-inch format flash drive at 128GB.
The FiD 2.5-inch SATA 10000 delivers sustained read rates up to 100Mbit/s and sustained write rates up to 90Mbit/s. Burst read rates can reach 300Mbit/s. The interface is SATA II at 3Gbit/s. Its random read and write rate is over 9500 and 550 inputs/outs per second (IOPS) for a 512-byte transfer respectively. This is about 20 percent faster than a SCSI hard drive.
Concerning the write cycle the company states: "the drive at FiD 2.5-inch SATA 10000 32GB features a write/erase endurance of approximately 8 years at 1TByte of write/erase cycles per day thanks to an exclusive controller chip design that features proprietary wear leveling and bad block management algorithms."
This solid state drive (SSD) has a strong case that can withstand high degrees of shock.
It is targeted at enterprise server, military, aerospace, commercial aviation, and industrial markets under harsh environmental conditions. Sampling is expected to begin in March 2008 and it will ship in volume by Q2 2008 in capacities ranging from 32GB to 128GB.
This is not a commercial server hard drive replacement product.
