QLogic loses no. 2 exec
posted on 16 March 2008 07:27
The terse 8K SEC filing by QLogic on March 14th reads: "Jeff Benck, President and Chief Operating Officer, resigned from the Company effective March 14, 2008."
QLogic makes storage area network switches, host bus adapters and related components. Its CEO and chairman is H. K. Desai. Benck (pictured left) was recruited from IBM in May 2008, a little under a year ago. He was, when recruited by Desai, in line to become the next CEO. Desai has been its CEO since 1994 when QLogic came into being as a business independent from its owner, Emulex.
QLogic was named "Company of the Year" by the Technology Council of Southern California earlier this year.
The company has recently launched its 8Gbit/s Fibre Channel technology products and is active in the FCOE area. Its financial results have been healthy.
There have been no signs of personal or technology dissensions from within QLogic and Benck's departure is sudden, with no notes of regret at his leaving by QLogic.
