Half a terabyte in your pocket
posted on 08 March 2008 14:09
Buffalo Technology has released a 500GB portable USB memory device that slips into a shirt pocket.
The hard drive inside it spins at 5,400rpm and canbe used as an external diskl drive by both Windows and Mac OS X. Buffalo reckons it transfers data up to 30 percent faster thanother external USB storage products because of its TurboUSB technology.
Shock Resistant technology suspends the drive between its impact resistant plastic chassis and surrounds it with shock absorbing material. For added security, the MiniStation TurboUSB is equipped with Buffalo's SecureLockWare, preventing unauthorised access in the event the drive is lost or stolen. The drive doesn't need any drivers, is pre-formatted and ready for immediate use, and it connects via USB 2.0 and 1.1, making it easy to use and practical.
There is a wrap-around cable which provides convenient cable management while traveling. The product ships with Memeo's AutoBackup for data protection.
The Buffalo 500GB MiniStation TurboUSB (HD-PS500U2) is backed by a limited one-year warranty and toll-free 24/7 technical support. It is available this month in the USA at an estimated street price of $329.
