PresSTORE 3 ensures data is both safe from loss and secure from theft

PresSTORE now adds data-encryption and continuous data protection to its backup, archiving and synchronisation system for increased security and availability of sensitive data.

London, 7/3/08 – JPY Plc, distributor of Archiware PresSTORE, is pleased to announce the immediate availability of PresSTORE 3 in the UK.

Archiware PresSTORE has, since 2002, provided platform independent backup, archiving and synchronisation tools for Windows, OS X and Linux. This third major release sees PresSTORE maturing to new levels of usability, and in particular security, while keeping the speed and broad compatibility it’s become known for.

A solution to data leakage
From the Child Benefit Agency to the Department of Justice, stories of data loss, through loss of DVDs, laptops, and other breaches of security have been in the headlines for months. The release today of PresSTORE 3 means now backups and remote file transfers can be secure not just from hardware failure, but security breaches too, due to extensive encryption options.

End-to-end encryption
Archiware has integrated two encoding options to protect data against non-authorised access. Via file encryption data can be encoded directly at its source during the backup or archiving process and then be stored in an encrypted form. This encryption offers increased security, especially when data is stored off-site. The second encoding option, the transfer encryption, provides protection during the data transmission to the media. This secures data transfer across the Internet.

Continuous data protection for Mac OS X and Windows
By employing continuous data protection, PresSTORE is able to immediately identify newly created or modified files and directly synchronise them to a defined target system or folder. This is a continuous process that eliminates the need for a lengthy scan of the whole file system. CDP minimises the time between users making a change to the file and its subsequent duplication to a second system, so that the data will be secure more of the time.

New User Interface
Previous versions of Archiware PresSTORE have gained praise for its ease of use. This reputation will be further enhanced by the re-worked and even easier to use interface of version 3. The new job scheduling options are easily configured to any schedule imaginable, with every aspect of the backup controlled with ease.

Automatic client update
A convenient new feature of PresSTORE 3 is the automatic client update function, which relieves the work of IT administrators of large networks and saves time and costs. PresSTORE 3 seamlessly and automatically updates all of its configured clients, both server and workstations.
