EMC resells WAN acceleration

EMC added SilverPeak's WAN acceleration services hardware to its Select Program. It is a reseller agreement

In a move announced last month by SilverPeak but not EMC, the former company's NX WAN acceleration appliances can now be sold directly by EMC.

WAN acceleration products from F5 also feature in the Select Program

SilverPeak products have a good rating for use in replicating data over long distances and also for scalability. The company competes with, amongst others, Packeteer and Riverbed.

Packeteer has had a year of poor results and is facing a revolt by a large shareholder. Riverbed is a strong contender and has just released version 5 of its RIOS software.
