RB Document Solutions Ltd, a Laserfiche® digital document management solutions provider, has signed an exclusive UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and Ireland reseller and distributor agreement with Ruby Digital, Inc for their Digital Pen solution.

To speed up form submission and workflow processes, utilising the Digital Paperwork process, pen strokes are captured using digital pen and paper forms overlaid with a unique dot-pattern water mark. The digital pen includes an infrared camera which takes up to 50 pictures per second during pen strokes. Digital Paperwork's digital pen technology records the coordinates of pen movements along the dot pattern of “Anoto-ized” paper and transmits the data via a Bluetooth connection with a cell phone or by a USB cradle docking station. The form image itself along with the data from the pen strokes can be extracted in real time and transmitted as an xml data source.

These coordinates are then reconstructed to create a pristine digital image of the handwritten form while the data is also extracted through various handwriting recognition software applications.

It is highly secure, easy to use and at the end of the day, it’s still "pen and paper"!
