Southborough, Mass. ­ March 3, 2008 ­ Double-Take® Software (NASDAQ: DBTK), a leading provider of continuous data protection and recovery software, announced today that it would support Microsoft Windows Server 2008.

As enterprises start adopting the newest Microsoft platform, Double-Take Software will provide solutions to protect business critical data and applications on the new platform.

In addition to providing deep support for new Windows Server 2008 features, Double-Take® for Windows will also be leveraging those features to provide support for Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) and Transactional NTFS (TxF) IPv6 is designated as the successor of IPv4, the current version of the Internet Protocol, which is used for communication on computer networks. TxF is a new feature of the NTFS file system which allows Windows application developers to write file output routines that are guaranteed to either completely succeed or completely fail, ensuring the integrity of data.

Support for the new TxF, for example, will allow customers to use Double-Take to protect applications which leverage this new capability to ensure data integrity and improve application stability. This release of Double-Take for Windows will also support IPv6, ensuring that organisations adopting this new networking standard will be able to easily protect their business-critical data and applications. Furthermore, Double-Take can protect current versions of Microsoft virtual servers and the company looks forward to supporting the Microsoft Hyper-V launch later this year.

As existing customers migrate their environments to Windows Server 2008,they can rely on a single product for disaster recovery of critical workloads because Double-Take for Windows supports previous versions of Windows Server in addition to the latest release. Leveraging features like data replication and full-server protection and recovery also allow customers to employ Double-Take as part of their upgrade and migration strategies for Windows Server 2008. They can use real production data, replicated to new systems, to test application and data compatibility on the new platform or use the Double-Take Server Recovery Option to restore a production server to a new piece of hardware and test in-place upgrades.
