Copan raids F5, HDS and others for talent

Building out global operations with 14 new appointments
Copan Systems, the supplier of persistent data storage products based upon its intelligent Enterprise Massive Array of Idle Disks (MAID) platform, today (Feb 15th) announced that it has hired fourteen executives to enhance its global team.
Mark Ward, Copan president and CEO,
said: “We’re delighted to be adding fourteen new staff members to the worldwide Copan Systems team. We have ambitious growth targets for 2008 to further establish Copam Systems as a leader in the storage industry, and our new hires will be instrumental in helping us to achieve this.” EMEA
COPAN Systems has announced five new additions to the EMEA regional team, and one promotion:
· Andrew Wilson joins COPAN Systems as Global Vice President of Commercial Operations. He has over twelve years’ business development management experience, with eight years in the storage market. Andrew will focus on the business issues driving today’s storage industry, working closely with customers to ensure that they receive tailored storage solutions to meet their business needs. He joins from Hitachi Data Systems, where he held the position of UK Operations Director and most recently UK Sales and Marketing Director.
· Martin Cooper joins as Director, Pre-Sales Engineering. He will report to Martin Firth and be responsible for systems and engineering in EMEA. Prior to this, Cooper was a member of the EMEA and APAC leadership team at Acopia Networks International.
· Andrew Childs joins as Systems and Engineering Director, Middle East region. Previously, he was Pre-Sales Support Division Manager at STME Ltd in Dubai and has worked in the Middle East for over 10 years.
· Paul Hargreaves joins as Systems Engineer in the UK where he will assist in managing new and existing customer relationships for COPAN Systems. He brings eight years’ experience gained from a similar role at Network Appliance.
· Laurence Martin joins as Territory Sales Manager for France, working alongside Patrick Trajkovic. She previously worked at EMC as Sales Manager for the banking sector and prior to that she was Sales Director at Sequent.
· COPAN Systems has also announced the promotion of Mick Bradley to Senior Vice President of Technical Services and Solutions. Over the last year, Mick has successfully developed a strong team of highly skilled data center technicians.
Asia Pacific
There are seven additions to the Asia Pacific (APAC) regional team:
· Eddie Palmer joins as Vice President of the Asia, South Australia and New Zealand region. Previously he held sales roles at Check Point Software Technologies and Datacraft Asia. Eddie’s sales experience will be instrumental in driving COPAN Systems’ sales operations across the region
· Darryl McKinnon joins as Territory Sales Manager of the Asia South region which includes Singapore, India, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Emerging Markets. He will be based in Singapore and he previously worked at Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) where he was responsible for Sun Microsystems and HDS business across Asia Pacific
· Masaki Katsumata joins as Country Manager, Japan. He was previously District Sales Manager at EMC Japan, where he was responsible for the entire telecoms and entertainment market
· Shuichi Kurazano joins as Technical Account Manager and will be based in Japan, reporting into Masaki Katsumata, Country Manager. Mr. Kurazono previously spent four years with Symantec as a Senior Pre-Sales Consultant where he looked after telecom industry giants including NTT Docomo, KDDI and Softbank
· Andrew Lee joins as Technical Partner Manager, and will be based in Singapore. Andrew joins from Sun Microsystems, where he was leading Storage Pre-sales for Malaysia. Andrew has over 15 years’ experience with EMCD Technologies, a distributor of EMC, and EMC respectively
· Wong Kee Wing joins as Systems Engineering Director for the Greater China region. He will be based in Beijing and joins from Sun Microsystems where he was the Senior Manager Storage Group for Greater China. He brings 15 years’ experience in the storage industry, having previously also held positions at StorageTek and IBM
· Larry Lim joins as Manager Technical Services for South Asia, and will be based in Singapore. For the past two years, Lim has been working at Ocasio Consulting. Prior to that, he spent nine years working at IBM and EMC respectively
US
There are two additions to the US regional team:
· Mike Connolly has been appointed as Vice President for North American sales. Connolly brings 20 years’ storage and information management experience having previously worked at Storage Networks (SNI), Infoblox and Acopia/F5. In addition, over the course of a12-year tenure at EMC, Connolly took on sales duties in New York City, Boston, San Francisco and Chicago, where he led an enterprise sales territory that generated annual revenues north of $250 million.
· John Tsinkelis joins as Field Sales Team member, working as a Senior Systems Engineer in the North East US region. John will be based in New York City and will report to Bob Seiboth, North East US region.
Today, Copan Systems has eleven offices worldwide in the US, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Singapore and Japan. Since March 2007, Copan Systems has been on a steady recruitment drive and will continue to grow its team of storage industry experts.
